TPD Compliance

As you might have seen in recent news, the e-cigarette industry is now regulated in both the UK and the EU. The Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) has been updated, aiming to enhance product safety and ensure consumers are aware that they are purchasing nicotine-containing products. These regulations also mandate that only individuals aged 18 and over can buy and use e-cigarettes and related products. Despite these intentions, some might view these regulations as a form of modern prohibition.

Here’s how it will affect you and how the product’s available for sale in the UK will change between now and May 20th 2017

So, what does this mean?

  • There may be less e liquid flavours and devices available in the market as smaller companies may not be able to meet or comply with the strict regulations.
  • E-cigarette devices will have a change in branding appearance, they will be sold as a whole unit with a limited ability to customise and they will include a standardised refill mechanism to promote safety.
  • All cartridges, pod systems and tanks will be limited to 2ml capacity of e liquid.
  • Sales overseas will be regulated throughout Europe BUT not banned. Please ensure that you check with your local customs if you are planning to make a purchase from us.
  • However, the EU is reserving the right to ban e-cigarettes if 3 member states deem the products to be harmful. This is enough to make it illegal.
